Driving Drowsy - Make Sure No Sleep-Driving Ever Happens to You!

With the welcomed approach of spring, clocks were turned ahead this weekend, costing us all an hour of much-need sleep. It always takes a couple days to readjust to the new schedule, influenced heavily by the body’s reaction to the simple passage of day in to night. As a result, this can be an increasingly dangerous time to drive suggests the National Road Safety Foundation.

"Drowsiness, a condition most drivers fail to recognize, can be as dangerous as drinking and driving," said David Reich, public relations director for the National Road Safety Foundation. "Studies show 60 percent of us have driven while feeling sleepy, and more than a third admit to having fallen asleep at the wheel in the past year."

With a shocking wake-up call, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that driver fatigue is responsible for more than 100,000 crashes every year, resulting in at least 1,500 deaths
