AMAG - "We got our first peek at Aston Martin’s new V8 Vantage S earlier this year, but it wasn’t until now that we had a good earful of the car being driven in anger.

The British automaker is no stranger to crafting catchy promotional videos for its cars, including the race-inspired V8 Vantage N420."

The 2011 Aston Martin V8 Vantage S definitely outperforms the N420.

It still uses a 4.7L, V8 engine, but engineers were able to tweak it for another 10 hp (which isn't much), which adds up to 430 hp total. Vantage S models also get 15 inch brake rotors with 6-piston front calipers, a stiffer suspension, 19-inch wheels, and a facelift.

The Vantage S is by far one of the best V8 powered Astons to take the road, besides the Vantage GT4 racer. You can hear the V8 engine roaring over some rifling drum and bass music in the companies all-new short produced video clip.

Aston Martin has finally revealed the full production version of the Aston Martin Rapide at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Said to be the “most elegant four-door sports car in the world,” Aston Martin says that the Rapide can carry four adults comfortably...

Press Release:

The World’s Most Elegant Four-Door Sports Car

  • The most elegant four-door sports car in the world
  • Accommodates four adults in luxury and comfort
  • Benchmark levels of driver engagement and refinement
  • Spacious and functional creating a truly versatile Aston Martin sports car

Gaydon, Warwickshire 15 September 2009. Aston Martin will unveil one of the most eagerly awaited cars of 2009 at the 63rd Frankfurt Motorshow. The elegant Rapide, functional yet luxurious, provides space for up to four adults combined with an engaging driving experience synonymous with all Aston Martins.

As the marque’s first production four-door sports car, Rapide encapsulates core values of Power, Beauty and Soul; four ’swan wing’ doors provide access to cosseting sports seats both front and rear bestowing occupants with ample accommodation. A 301 litre luggage compartment affords generous space for belongings for all four passengers whether they be sports bags or indeed, sets of skis, creating an Aston Martin which can be enjoyed on any occasion, anytime, anywhere.

Rapide’s rear environment has been intelligently packaged to create a space where passengers feel a part of the driving experience with clear views to the front and sides. Comfort and support is supplied in the form of two hand trimmed individual seats and a personal face-level heating and air conditioning system. Aiding the practicalities of everyday use, the luggage compartment features a movable bulkhead to permit access from the rear cabin while the rear seats fold flat at the touch of a button to create a flat loading space increasing the luggage compartment from 301 litres to 750 litres.

At the heart of every Aston Martin lies an evocative engine providing effortless power and torque: Rapide features a hand-built 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 470 bhp (477 PS / 350 kW) with peak power being delivered at 6000 rpm and 600 Nm (443 lbft) peak torque at 5000 rpm. A specifically tuned six-speed Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission features as standard, allowing the driver to change gear automatically or manually via the steering column-mounted magnesium paddles.

First shown in 2006 in concept form at the Detroit Auto Show, the Rapide project received an immediate green light from Aston Martin’s new shareholders in mid 2007 following the sale of the marque by the Ford Motor Company. In a little over two years, Aston Martin’s design and engineering team have delivered a new car from the ground up. Rapide has been developed from the ‘V/H Architecture’ platform which already forms the backbone to Aston Martin’s critically acclaimed line-up: the DBS, DB9 and Vantage range.

Chief Executive, Dr. Ulrich Bez said: “Rapide is the culmination of the Aston Martin range of sports cars, a car that seals the revival of a truly admired marque. There is now an Aston Martin for every taste and for every use.

“With Rapide, the entire family can enjoy their Aston Martin together in unison, in an invigorating yet comfortable environment, sitting low, with plenty of visibility from every seat and with new levels of comfort, refinement and entertainment.”

Director of Design, Marek Reichman who led the in-house design team which penned the Rapide said: “Like a race horse standing still, you can see its power and elegance, the shape of Rapide’s rear haunches are muscular conveying the power that lies beneath while its low stance produces a powerful look.

“There is a real sense of proportion with this car, akin to a tailored suit; the new double grill gives more presence on the road while the iconic signature side strake has been lengthened through to the rear doors to enhance its lateral proportions in a subtle, yet elegant way. The car’s purity makes it look right from every angle.”

First deliveries of the Rapide will commence early in 2010 and will be available globally through Aston Martin’s 125 strong dealership network. Pricing will be confirmed at the Frankfurt Show.

A 2009 Coventry University graduate, James Trim, has unveiled his latest project and the idea of a greener, much-more environmentally friendly Aston Martin.

Known as the Aston Martin Volare, Trim says that his design will keep Aston’s “fantastic sound and outright performance customary with that of a petrol equivalent, but would provide drivers the world over with equal amounts of guilt free motoring.”..

Aston Martin V12 Vantage Pictures

For your viewing pleasure! 70+ cool high-res pictures HERE

Shaking the "grand tourer" moniker often applied to larger, more unweildy Aston Martin models, the V12 Vantage is pure sports car through and through. A 6 speed conventional manual is mounted behind the driver for better weight distribution and drives the rear wheels.

The V12 powerplant is the same excellent unit found in the current DBS, producing 510 horses and 420 lb-ft. of torque, good for 4.1 seconds through 60 mph and a top speed of 190 mph, Aston says.

On the outside, the 2010 V12 Vantage gets a host of minor styling changes to differentiate itself from "lesser" V8 Vantage models, most noticable of which is the louvered hood. Carbon fiber front and rear air dams, as well as low and lean skirts from Aston Martin Racing round out the package.

2010 Aston Martin One-77 Supercar: Only for 77 Lucky Car Owners for 2010

The era of epic supercars is certainly not over at Aston Martin, with the carmaker confirming the development of a brand new flagship model late last year. A life-size mock up was then put on display at the 2008 Paris Motor Show to tease the public and start building interest for the car, which is estimated to cost a cool £1.2 million. A technical design showcase at last month’s Geneva Motor Show revealed more features, including its bespoke carbon-fiber chassis and V12 engine, and earlier this month Aston released the first tentative details about production plans. Finally, the first completed model was revealed at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este at Lake Como, Italy, where it also took the event’s prestigious design award.

Aston Martin’s European operations chief Marcel Beci revealed in March that the first actual customer car will roll out of the company’s Gaydon factory later this year and that the limited production run of just 77 cars will be complete by the end of 2010.

Beci also explained that Aston Martin keeps in close contact with all its One-77 customers, and that every effort is being made to ensure the car does not fall prey to resellers who may attempt to profit from it. After all, the One-77 is being built not just as a halo car, but as an ultra-halo car, a sort of rekindling of the legacy of Aston Martin, plus a projection of the brand into the future. It's designed to be the most quintessential Aston Martin ever, and the most perfectly personalized car available.

2009 Aston Martin Vantage V12 Ready to Race the 2009 Nurburgring 24 Hour Race

For the fourth consecutive year, Aston Martin will take part at the Nurburgring 24-hour endurance race which begins on May 23. This time, the British automaker will participate with a near-standard V12 Vantage featuring only essential safety modifications, reduced weight, Pirelli slick tires and re-tuned suspension with no additional aerodynamic enhancements. There are no changes under the hood with the Vantage retaining the stock 6.0-litre V12 engine that produces 517HP and 570 Nm or 420 lb/ft of torque.

Aston Martin's team of drivers will include the company's boss Dr Ulrich Bez who will be driving in his fourth consecutive 24-hour race, as well as representatives from the automaker's engineering department.

2010 Aston Martin Rapide -- Official First Picture!

Aston Martin's much-anticipated Rapide sedan has finally broken cover with an official pic, and it's gorgeous.

The big sedan will go head-to-head with Porsche's bloated Panamera and try to take some starch out of Mercedes, BMW and Audi as the big sedan war heats up.

"The Rapide will be the most elegant four-door sports car in the world," Dr. Ulrich Bez, company CEO, said in a press release. "It completes the Aston Martin range while conveying our established attributes of power, beauty and soul."

And spectacular styling.

Back before the economy cratered and auto sales tanked, it seemed everyone and his brother was promising a big sedan with power to match. Even companies that really have no business building sedans - coughPorsche coughLamborghini - were arguing they simply must have a four-door high-performance sedan if they are to compete.

2010 Aston Martin Rapide is a V12 Engine Powerhouse - First Look

Yes it is true! These facts were revealed by Marcel Beci, Aston Martin’s General Manager on European Operations in a recent interview with the Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf. It appears that in no way the upcoming Rapide Sedan will not receive a V8 engine because the manufacturer wants power and only the V12 can offer this.

The new Rapide will receive the V12 engine from the DB9, but the source didn’t want to spoil the surprise and we will find this only when the car will be officially launched.

Once More, With Feeling: Second Lagonda concept coming in May

Aston Martin Lagonda Concept – Click above for high-res gallery

If you were looking forward to Aston Martin's revival of the long-dormant Lagonda marque and were disappointed by the controversially-styled crossover concept unveiled earlier this month at the Geneva Motor Show, take heart: a second Lagonda concept is on the way. The news reportedly comes directly from the mouth of David Richards, chairman of Aston Martin-Lagonda's board, who admitted that the crossover concept was just one attempt, but that the company would be coming back with another in May. If you're wondering what major auto show is taking place in May, you can stop scratching your head: New York is in early April with Shanghai and Moscow to follow later the same month. That's it until the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. So unless Richards got his dates mixed up, the second Lagonda concept will be unveiled at its own dedicated event.

The bigger question is what form the next Lagonda concept will take. Reception towards the sport-ute concept at the Geneva show was rather puzzled, so our money is on some sort of sedan or wagon. AML won't want it to encroach on the upcoming Rapide, so don't expect some sort of four-door coupe, but with segments being busted all across the industry, anything is possible. We'll just have to wait a couple of months to find out.

Aston Martin to unveil new Lagonda concept Car in May. Second Time a Charm?

There is no question that the Lagonda Concept received a very “awkward” acceptance at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show.

Even with the Mercedes-Benz GL underpinnings, Aston Martin came up with concept that resembled an SUV and while we don’t want to say it and should keep our opinions to ourselves (since we’re journalists just reporting the news), we have to say that the Lagonda Concept was just flat out… well ugly.

However, keep your hopes up. According to the head of the Lagonda project, David Richards, Aston Martin will be back this May with a second Lagonda concept that “will be completely opposite of what you saw in Geneva.”
