The first Top Gear USA trailer shows the hosts playing with some expensive sheetmetal, but then concentrates on the hosts attempting to find the best car for a mere $1000. The latest trailer, released this week, is rather different, with the least expensive car exceeding $200,000.

Foust does his thing (drifting) in a Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni, Ferrara punishes a Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera, and Wood plays in the dirt with a Murcièlago LP 670-4 SV.

While most people would jump at the opportunity to go out and play with three raging bulls for a day, the hosts are hard at work finding the best modern Lamborghini. This really is a tough gig.

Top Gear USA has had its ups and downs in terms of finding a buyer and a network, but the History Channel picked it up earlier this year and has been working to create a show. So far, the network seems to be doing a decent job with production.

Lamborghini Murcielago Superveloce LP670-4

Quick! Grab your DVD of Steve McQueen's epic film, "Le Mans." Fast forward to the bit near the end where McQueen's Gulf Porsche 917 is chasing down the No. 8 Ferrari 512, and crank up the volume. There! That shot where the No. 8 Ferrari passes the stricken No. 5 car on the last lap. Listen... That's exactly what the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce sounds like at 7000 rpm in fourth gear.

You're traveling at a shade over 160 mph in the low-slung Lambo at those revs. And you still have two gears to go. Oh, lordy... This is the supercar from central casting. Big. Loud. Fast.

Lamborghini launched the Murcielago way back in 2001 on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. The volcano was smoking gently as we flew in, and as we drove up the mountain some of the lava from an eruption mere weeks earlier was still cooling. It wasn't hard to figure out the subtext here: This car is meant to be intimidating. Handle with care.

Marussia Concept: Smorgasbord of Car Features, Design

It’s very hard to find original car designs anymore, especially attractive ones. Like women, there are just certain features in cars that are timelessly beautiful, even after accounting for individual tastes.

2010 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder: Car Review by Automobile Magazine

At 12,198 feet, Mount Teide might be the highest point in all of the territories that comprise Spain and one of the main tourist sites in the Canary Islands.

But on this particular Thursday in March, at the parking lot of the viewing center nestled in the volcanic rock near its summit, El Teide is definitely a second-string attraction for the tourists milling about. That's because the mountain, which last erupted in 1909, has been upstaged by the fleet of 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyders that just came roaring in. A single example of the ragtop version of the revised Gallardo coupe that debuted last year would garner attention wherever it went, even if it were painted generic silver. But what we have here at the top of Tenerife is a flotilla of more than a dozen Gallardo Spyders painted dayglow yellow, electric lime green, brilliant blue, matte black, and crisp white with black wheels, among other eye-popping shades. The cabins are just as colorful and enticing, every inch of them lined with exquisitely detailed leather. (Our favorite? Pearlescent white paint over rich, dark brown hides. Scrumptious.)

Lamborghini Reventon Acceleration and Top Speed (222mph) VIDEO!

Of the 20 exclusive Lamborghini Reventons produced to date, there was no doubt that one had to make it into the hands of an uber-rich Saudi man who likes to go fast (and we’re sure someone else who likes to go fast owns one in Dubai, UAE as well).

Watch as he guns it on an open highway in the dead of night multiple times until finally getting an unobstructed opportunity to get it up to an indicated 356kph, or 222mph. (Way cool dashboard gauges on the Reventon, by the way.)

Note: Please don't try this on an American highway... Not only because it's silly illegal and dangerous (just like it is over there), but rather because American highways sadly aren't up to par for high-speed driving of this caliber. Why, you may ask? Two reasons: first, drivers here aren't taught to keep right and will refuse (or be oblivious) to yield when you flash your beams from the inside lane at high-speed, so you will most likely rear-end them (with a difference of speed of 150mph+) and everyone in both cars will very quickly be dead. That's one reason.

Second, the majority of highways here aren't safe enough for 200mph speeds due to shortcomings in construction as well as design. For example, asphalt-to-concrete bridge transitions for some maddening reason are never completely seamless in America as they are most everywhere else in the world I've been in, but instead have huge humps and bumps that will throw a car going 200mph clear off the road. The other thing: If you keep in mind that America has the largest highway system in the world by far at well over 40,000 miles of pavement (and that we're in a huge national deficit), it's clear that it's simply too costly to invest in, operate and maintain the latest über-expensive German asphalt road-making machines that are responsible for the smooth-as-glass surfaces seen on the Autobahn and many other motorways around the world, including the new ones in the Middle East.

Lamborghini Reventon Roadster may replace Murcielago

According to a new rumour, Lamborghini are preparing a Reventon Roadster to bid farewell to the Murcielago.

Lambo’s limited production Reventon was originally based on the Murcielago LP640.

If this is true, the Reventon Roadster would probably use a rag for its roof, and it would be even more exclusive than the coupe. It was said that there might only be 9 units built.
