BMW takes on Audi R8 with BMW Z10 ED Electric Sportscar Tesla Wannabe

Is a green supercar in BMW's future? According to some recently published discussions with BMW's new design director, Adrian von Hooydonk, that may be the case.

Autocar spoke with von Hooydonk, who indicated the new "green" supercar - currently called the Z10 ED - would deliver "an exciting dynamic experience", as well as showcase BMW's new environmentally friendly technology. The "ED" in Z10 ED stands for Efficient Dynamics, a slew of BMW technologies including stop-start and active aerodynamics. The Z10 will implement newer ED technology, such as a heat collector that will turn wasted heat energy from the exhaust into electricity.

Autocar says the Z10 ED is being pitched as an Audi R8 competitor, with a price-tag of over $100,000.
